Graduation Requirements

Fulfilling all of your academic requirements is only part of what is necessary to graduate from the Pitt School of Education. You must also complete all of the required applications and forms outlined on this site.

To submit a graduation application, you will need to log into my.pitt.edu and follow these instructions.

Please read all of these materials carefully to ensure that you are in full compliance with all rules and regulations. Please contact SOEgrad@pitt.edu with any questions.

Graduation Instructions

  • Graduation is not an automatic process. You must complete the graduation application. View instructions (PDF)
  • Upon review and final approval by the Office of Student Services and your advisor, your graduation is authorized and your diploma is ordered. You must be in good financial standing with the University to receive your diploma.
  • Diplomas are mailed by the Office of the Registrar about six to eight weeks after the end of the term of graduation.
  • You will receive information about the commencement ceremonies via mail and/or email approximately one month before the ceremony.
  • The name you indicate on your graduation application must match exactly the way it appears in the University’s student information system (PeopleSoft).
  • If for any reason you are unable to graduate in the term for which you applied, you must submit a new graduation application for a future term. Students are not automatically rolled over onto future graduation rosters.
  • Late graduation applications may incur a fee.
  • Individuals who submit graduation applications after the deadline are not guaranteed to have their name included in the event program.
