Fiona Seels is the Director of Technology for the School of Education. Fiona has been with the School of Education since 2000, following a year of service with AmeriCorps leading volunteer training with the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council. She started work in the School of Education through a Preparing Tomorrows Teachers to Teach with Technology (PT3) project, leading professional development with faculty and K-12 teachers as a technology integration coach. In 2006, she shifted to a Systems Administrator role, supporting, identifying, and helping to build technology infrastructure for the school.
Fiona served for several years on the University’s Staff Council, including a term as Parliamentarian from 2016-2018, where she helped shepherd the passage of the university’s new Parental Leave policy for staff.
Fiona has a B.A in History from Hiram College and earned her master’s degree in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018. Her particular areas of interest are in process improvement, data analytics, instructional technology in K-12 and Higher Education, bridging the digital divide, and educational equity.
Outside of work, Fiona is Co-Founder and Co-Captain of the Eastfield Community Garden and serves as the Vice-President of the Pittsburgh Dilworth PTA.
