Scholarship Guidelines

Please read closely as our guidelines are specific to the School of Education and may differ from other units in the university. 

  • Must have graduated within the past three years from the University of Pittsburgh
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 for guaranteed eligibility
  • Will receive a $2,500/term tuition scholarship for a maximum of two terms ($5,000 total)
  • Fall and spring are the only terms eligible for scholarships
  • Must be a full-time student to be eligible for the scholarship
  • Scholarships are available on a first-come, first-serve basis
  • This scholarship is non-refundable
  • Those who receive Pitt employee tuition benefits or athletic scholarships are ineligible
  • Must complete one of the School of Education programs listed below

Eligible Teacher Education & School Leadership Programs

Our Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program develops a teacher’s ability to create cross-disciplinary and transdisciplinary learning experiences.

Our Master of Education (MEd) in Early Childhood Education program offers a range of coursework encompassing the needs of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and children in the primary grades.

Our Orientation and Mobility Specialist program prepares you to earn your certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), which is a gateway to a diverse range of employment opportunities.

Our Master of Education in Reading Education prepares you for literacy leadership roles in K-12 schools and districts.

Program Details

Our Master of Education (MEd) in PreK-12 Special Education addresses the challenges of today’s schools and prepares you to teach effectively in pre-kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and high school settings.

Our Master of Arts in Teaching with teacher certification prepares you for certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. You must select a subject area for certification.

  • Certifications for Grades 7-12 offered in English Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, or Social Studies Education
  • Certifications for Grades PreK-12 offered in World and Heritage Language Education (foreign language education)

How to Apply for a Pitt2Pitt Scholarship

  1. Submit your application for the School of Education program.
  2. After completing your application, notify the School of Education admissions office of your interest in the Pitt2Pitt scholarship.
  3. Contact the admissions team at soeinfo@pitt.edu.

We recognize that you may not have completed all the prerequisites for a School of Education graduate program. Don’t worry! You are still eligible to apply and can complete the courses at the beginning of the program.
