Empowering Educators
The project, titled “Environmental Justice Pathway: Empowering Students Through Relevant and Agentic Data Science Lessons,” seeks to provide teachers nationwide with actionable lessons for the K-8 classroom.
Through this grant, teachers were introduced to data science through the perspective of environmental justice. In a series of professional development experiences, teachers were introduced to resources and concepts from which to build meaningful lessons for their classrooms.
Funded by the Grable Foundation, it is part of an ongoing research-practice partnership between researchers from the University of Pittsburgh, ThroughlinesEdu, and STEAM-related educators in the Greater Pittsburgh region.
