Are you an experienced educator interested in supporting and empowering teacher education students at the Pitt School of Education?
The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Leading is seeking Teacher Candidate Coaching (TCC) for the Spring 2025 terms. The TCC consultants provide real-time instructional coaching and observation feedback to student teachers in the field while also ensuring compliance with required state certification documentation.
Position Overview
Responsibilities include:
- Adhering to coaching cycles
- Observing and coaching student teachers in the field
- Providing feedback
- Communicating with teacher mentors and students concerning teaching effectiveness
- Ensuring student compliance with required certification documentation
- Composing letters of recommendation
- Promoting productive problem-solving communication
Compensation:
- Teacher Candidate Coaches typically coach a cohort of 8-15 student teachers per semester. Pay is based on number of students.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree in education or related field
- Indication of knowledge of teaching and learning process as evidenced by educational program or experience teaching
- Demonstrated expertise in area of education or related field
- Current teaching certificate in the content area(s) where supervision is occurring
- Three years of teaching experience (minimum) in the content area(s) where supervision is occurring
Highly-desired Experiences:
- Instructional coach-certified or principal-certified
- Special Education certification
